CHARITY WORK

Netherwood Academy is extremely proud of the contributions we have made over the years to support local charities. In 2022 our students voted to support Sheffield Children’s Hospital, and with the help of our amazing student leaders, we planned and hosted various fundraising events throughout the year culminating in the Netherwood 3K, in which all of Key Stage 3 participated. We raised an incredible £3148 for Sheffield Children’s Hospital, which enabled us to sponsor a snowflake on the building for Christmas 2022. We aim to continue this amazing work throughout each academic year, to help promote a number of different charities and to encourage others to get involved, spread the word and make positive contributions to society and the local community.

SUPPORTING OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY

At Netherwood, we pride ourselves on supporting the local community, and our students are always so keen to help. During this
term we have had students lay wreaths at the Wombwell and Darfield Remembrance day parades, as well as attending a local nursing
home to perform dance routines and a special Christmas musical performance for the residents.

Our Citizenship students have organised a whole school collection for the Salvation Army, to support their Christmas appeals, our
students have and our fantastic year 11 prefect team supported a whole school collection buy putting together hampers and gifts for families in need within the local community.

In the Spring and Summer term, plans will be put in place to organise our annual 3K walk to raise money for a local charity, as well to invite our local residents in for afternoon tea, after the success of this event last summer.

If you would like to be involved in any of our community projects, or think you can support us in anywhere, please get in touch, we would love to have more parents and students involved.
