Homework Information

Your child will be set weekly homework in core subjects. For the subjects of English, maths, science, Spanish, geography and PE, online platforms are used. These are detailed below. Your child will be introduced to these in school and will then be expected to log on independently in their own time to complete the work. Homework completion contributes to the 5* Learner Reports and therefore also rewards. However, failure to complete the work online will result in sanctions as homework is an important part of learning.
Other subjects will set homework which will be written in planners.
To support your child, please make sure that you note the deadlines for the homework listed below, and help them to organise their time to meet the deadlines, preferably in advance of the day indicated. Please ask to see their planners regularly for other deadlines and support them in managing their time.
Please note that Sparx Maths and Sparx Reader are responsive programs and automatically set questions based on the understanding and ability of the person completing the work. There are support videos for Sparx Maths, so if your child is struggling with a question they can get online help to answer it by watching these.
In addition to this, your child will need a quiet space to complete their work. In busy households we understand that this is not always possible, and for this reason we provide an afterschool homework club every day that they can attend where computers are available to complete the work. Staff are also on hand to help. Please encourage your child to attend this if you think this would help them make better progress.
